«Mannaggia a me che spreco pure tutto sto tempo a scrivere ste minchiate in inglese! Vabbèh…le domande sicuro le riciclo per qualcun altro!!!». [Driiiin! Suono della campanella!] Dunque, cari ragazzuoli, dovete sapere che ci sono gruppi che anche dopo aver dato alle stampe album davvero validi rimangono sempre umili e coscienziosi del fatto che è meglio strappare un sorriso a chi ti sta di fronte che farlo incazzare come un picchio. E’ più giudizioso fargli passare qualche momento piacevole anche in situazioni che piacevoli non lo sono per niente (vedi l’assurdo momento dell’intervista…). Per lo più sono gruppi formati da persone con i piedi per terra e poco inclini a “tirarsela” e anche se la lista non è certo infinita ho avuto già modo di verificare che, fortunatamente, esistono ancora artisti del genere. Poi ci sono quelle band che, dopo aver esordito con un album veramente ben prodotto e affascinante decidono improvvisamente che loro sono fighi e tu no. Non esiste ironia, non esiste domanda interessante. Esiste “IO” e basta. Punto. Eccoci dunque oggi ad esaminare il secondo caso descritto dal sussidiario. I Band Of Horses hanno fatto innamorare quasi tutta la redazione di Indiefordummies col loro debut intitolato “Everything All The Time” e per un attimo (ma roba di millisecondi…) sono anche riusciti a far versare alla stampa d’oltremanica un pochetto di bava colante generalmente tenuta in conserva per i gruppi post-Libertines fatti con lo stampino. Quindi, quando mi si è presentata la possibilità d’intervistarli non me lo sono fatto chiedere una seconda volta. Ebbene a giudicare dalle risposte misà che avrei dovuto. Va bene essere concisi e diretti ma il salto fino a risultare ridicoli e presuntuosi è veramente breve. [Driiiiiiin! Lezione finita. Buona lettura.]

Hi guys, let’s start with a classic one…when and how did your musical project born?
We’ve been a band for about two years. We got started after our band Carissa’s Weird broke up.

Why did you choose this name for your band, I mean…why the horses and not, for example, the elephants…or the chickens?
I like Horses. It just came to me one day.

Everything All the Time was one of our favourite’s album a couple of months ago. It’s quite an intimate blue treasure of emotions. There are many different “views” of your sound ability in it: the new-wave razor sound of “Wicked Gil”, the Arcadefiresque “The Funeral” and a few tastes of something like Nada Surf meets The Beatles versus Bob Dylan. So, now you must tell us which bands influenced your sound the most in your life and who are your personal music heroes.
I grew up with a lot of soul and rock and roll music. Later punk and indie rock changed my life. I like a lot of squeaky-voiced singers as well.

Why this sadness and melancholy inside your album? Have you been sad for something in particular while you were writing the songs or is it just a coincidence of events?
I am a sad man, and it’s a reflection of how much I despise being a person.

Let’s talk about Monsters: which are the “giant little animals” you sung about? Do you drink often guys?
They’re actually people. Terrible ones. Yes we drink all kinds of beverages and things.

Which is the song you love the most on the album and why?
I cant say I love any of them.

Which are currently your favourite bands?
Mt. Egypt. The Cant See. Sera Cahoone.

Do you have some friends inside Sub Pop or you just see Samuel Beam and think “Cut your beard and go a bit more electric you big boy!”?
We are friends with Sub Pop.

Tell us a recent underrated rock album which deserves in your personal opinion much attention.
Cass McCombs –Perfection.

Tell us an overrated one.
Band of Horses- everything all the time.

And the best album of all time too!
Right now for me it’s Hall and Oates- greatest hits.

Ok let’s talk about serious things now. U.S.A. soccer team will be versus Italy in the Germany soccer world cup very soon. Does your goalkeeper already know that Toni will be his own nightmare for quite a while?
We’re American. We don’t watch soccer.

George Bush: I give some lines to write whatever you feel for his person, his politics, his attitude… Feel free to write as many adjectives as you want. Its hard being American with that guy steering the ship.
It’s depressing to watch him speak.

Ok let’s close with a weird one: unveil only for us a secret that nobody know (yet) about you.
