#50 - Casiotone For The Painfully Alone - Etiquette ( Tomlab )
“Like a Mike Leigh film, a book of Hemingway short stories, and a sleep on a stranger’s couch, all at once. Pure winter.” ( Said The Gramophone )
“…on his newest album, Etiquette, Ashworth has loosened the limitations and widened his scope. His portraits are more fully fleshed out and the music is richer.” ( Nerd Litter )
“Le nouveau single “Bobby Malone Moves Home” est l’un des chef-d’oeuvres de ce disque, alors n’hésitez pas à commencer par là aussi.” ( La Blogothèque )

#49 - Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy - The Letting Go ( Drag City )
“Perfect for sitting on a veranda in the middle of nowhere, with only the sounds of nature, sipping a beer and contemplating life.” ( Feed Me Good Tunes )
“Not the finest work from the songwriting genius but still is better then most music released this year, unique and oddly beautiful as usual.” ( Oceans Never Listen )
“Will Oldham releases another album full of lovely folk music… simple, mellow, and wonderful…” ( FunTime OK )

#48 - Asobi Seksu - Citrus ( Friendly Fire )
“With a perfect voice to float over soaring wall of noise fuzz guitar, this band put out one of the best shoegazing albums in years.” ( Consumption Junction… )
“Yes, it’s shoegaze, yes, it’s dreamy, yes, it’s pretty. It’s also incredibly touching…” ( Cult Iconic )
“The entire album from it’s production to packaging is superb and will stand well among the staples in a genre thought to be exhausted.” ( Crackers United )

#47 - Johnny Cash - America V: A Hundred Highways ( Lost Highway )
“Each song possesses both a surety and a sadness (like the picture on the cover). As Stephen King recently wrote, “This is the voice of an Old Testament prophet on his deathbed, eerie and persuasive, full of power and dust and experience.”” ( I’m Fuel Of Friends )
“The American series stands a collective masterwork, that no artist in the twilight of their career will likely ever equal. And American V is the perfect way to end it. Let’s keep it that way.” ( The Daily Growl ) |

|
#46 - Girl Talk - Night Ripper ( Illegal Art )
“Like any mashup it already feels superoverplayed, but amazingly in no way less enjoyable.” ( The Central Village )
“Some people might consider this album offensive. Personally I think it’s offensive that not more of you have heard this masterpiece.” ( Indie Music Filter )
“One group whose album keeps popping up on best of lists for the year is Girl Talk’s Night Ripper.” ( Muzzle Of Bees )

#45 - Mogwai - Mr. Beast ( Matador )
“Mr Beast est un excellent album de synthèse de Mogwai” ( La Blogotèque )
“Mogwai expanded their palette with strident piano riffs joining ear-melting guitar noise to produce their most varied and possibly their best effort to date.” ( The Indie Credential )
“I hope that future Mogwai efforts will return some of their ostensibly less-structured songs, while maintaining the power showcased here.” ( More Cowbell )

#44 - The Long Blondes - Someone To Drive You Home (Rough Trade )
“Uno stile distintivo tanto glamorous da lasciare secchi ma tanto british da non riuscire ad essere antipatico. Una front-woman parte Debbie Harry parte Gwen Stefani, parte casalinga disperata parte femme fatale, parte adorabile svampita parte consumata professionista. Stato dell’arte.” ( Inkiostro )
“The Long Blondes finally set foot and created brilliant full length album. 50’s influence is as apparent on their music and it is in their style. English accents as they get, this album beats fellow Sheffield band Arctic Monkeys by far.” ( Off The Record )
“…sono convinto che l’album d’esordio del quintetto britannico sia una delle più importanti cose uscite in campo Pop in questa annata. Per quello che dice e per come lo dice. Per lo Stile. Per il modo in cui racconta la cultura che lo ha generato.” ( Polaroid )

#43 - Final Fantasy - He Poos Clouds ( Tomlab )
“Owen Pallet’s mix of twee indie pop with ornate mini-symphonies was an odd sounding concoction on first listen but soon revealed itself to be a baroque masterpiece that improves on every listen.” ( The Indie Credential )
“Everyone’s favourite gay Canadian indie violinist Owen Pallett traded in his lovable lo-fi strings-and-loop pedal bedroom recordings for this swirling all-out-orchestral epic…He Poos Clouds is an emotional ass-kicking - roll for damage.” ( Mocking Music )
“This is a contemporary classical opera that’s actually fun to listen to.” ( Undomundo )

#42 - Tapes ‘N Tapes - The Loon ( XL Recordings )
“The band is not just a derivative of their combined influences though, they manage to do their own thing while taking away everything they’ve learned by being fans. As a result the album is really easy to get into, and you’ll find yourself coming back over and over again.” ( Pop Tarts Suck Toasted )
“…the Tapes almost lived up to it with their debut which mixed the quiet/loud dynamism of the Pixies with the lo fi melodicism of early Pavement but managed to sound nothing like either of those bands.” ( The Indie Credential )
“Un debutto godibile e per nulla scontato, condizione necessaria e sufficiente, al momento, per tributare ai quattro ragazzi le dovute attenzioni.” ( Indie For Bunnies )

#41 - The Killers - Sam’s Town ( Island )
“The album is grande in the sense it’s an entire production, from the sing along conclusion of opener Sam’s Town, to the propulsive bass-line in Bling (Confessions of a King), to the slow builder Why Do I Keep Counting (written about his fear of flying), the album is destined to be a classic and is overlooked by many because of failing reviews.” ( )
“Sam’s Town establishes the Killers as not just a kitschy retro band. ” ( Surviving In The Golden Age )
“While there are definite flourishes of mainstream rock & roll, Sam’s Town comes across like a natural progression; the logical next step in a young band’s journey to make a lasting mark on today’s pop scene.” ( Indoor Fireworks ) |

|
#40 - The Blow - Paper Television ( K Records )
“Le groupe américain, meilleur espoir du label K Records, a enfin réussi son album de pop minimaliste. Un disque arty, électro, R’n’B, pop… C’est cool la dance en 2006 !” ( Blogothèque )
“As of the past week or so I’ve been listening to this album everyday. Dancable beats, with honest lyrics.” ( Think Tank )
“At times she is able to describe mundane experiences and feelings in the simplest of terms, and at others her methods become more abstract, but with each slice of life she illustrates, The Blow displays an impressive lyrical and compositional talent, the kind often overlooked in the realm of electronic music. ( Harmonium )

#39 - CSS - Cansei De Ser Sexy ( SubPop )
“This collection of tunes channels this onstage energy and fun into an album and is delightfully refreshing with stupid song titles, silly lyrics and bright, simple instrumentation.” ( nialler9 )
“Cansei De Ser Sexy definitely carry the attitude of a 70s disco band that unfroze, brushed themselves up and modernized. It’s fast, full of beats, and highly danceable. ” ( Both Sides Of Mouth )
“Il Brasile non è solo samba, ma anche electro-rock per un album sinceramente mirato alla leggerezza.” ( Indie For Bunnies )

#38 - The Rapture - Pieces Of People We Love (UMVD )
“The Rapture showing us just how they do and how to move our feet once again.” ( Off The Record )
“The Rapture go from their dark, disco-thrash sound from Echoes to a more accessible dance-pop-punk….the results are brilliant” ( The Modern Hype )
“The Rapture, a diferencia de sus contemporaneos postpunketeros, con esta tercera produccion, logra acentuar el sonido que alguna vez los hiciera el HYPE del momento. Las tres primeras rolas son imprescindibles para empezar el stopless dancing tripp al que te hundes una vez comenzado el viaje. Sin duda, una de las mejores producciones para este 2006.” ( Sonorama.NET )

#37 - Junior Boys - So This Is A Goodbye ( Domino )
“It was pretty clear from the outset that this was a special album. I still lose my breath in all the right places.” ( Bows + Arrows )
“Dark, brooding electronica. It is breathless, moody, synth-driven dance music; close your eyes and you can see the disconnectedness of the world, the unspoken miles between people, the distance to the horizon.” ( Feed Me Good Tunes )
“More subtle than its predecessor, if that is possible, but just as beautiful, both lyrically and sonically. It seems like everyone is saying how much like Violator-era Depeche Mode the record is.” ( Music.For-Robots ) |
 |
#36 - I’m From Barcelona - Let Me Introduce You To My Friends ( Dolores Recordings )
“One summer, Emanuel Lundgren invited all his friends over to record music. The final project is Let Me Introduce My Friends. This vibrant album is loaded with kazoos, horns, and anthems. Lots of anthems.” ( Headless Ponch )
“…you happy when you’re sad, get you out of bed when you’re tired, alert when you’re bored, smile when you’re pissed…. Magical.” ( SuperB Live )

“In a year with so much anger and so few great angry records, The Thermals are a godsend. Maybe even a small miracle.” ( Nerd Litter )
“The variety and the throughline might make Body the band’s best record, certainly its most coherent. ” ( Heart On A Stick )

#34 - Tom Waits - Orphans ( Anti )
“He’s for sure important figure and one of the most influential artist. Orphans has a bunch of feelings to get you in, don’t miss this out!” ( Modern Music )
“From piano ballads, subtle jazz, gospel, rockers, honky tonk blues, to his own pseudo beat box, industrial percussion clanks, all of Tom’s skills are on display here.” ( Herohill )

#33 - Peter Bjorn And John - Writer’s Block ( V2 )
“Endlessly catchy Swedish pop with a Broken Social Scene vibe.” ( Tall Building Shake )
“Arrangiamenti vezzosi, dilatazione dei tempi, leggerezza e colori di malinconia sparsa a proffusione dentro la stanza.” ( Discheria El Rocco )
“Sensitive but intense; capturing the brilliance each song. Whistling and great beats grabbed my attention and straight into my head with Young Folks and Amsterdam.” ( Off The Record ) |
 |
#32 - Ghostface Killah - Fishcale ( Def Jam )
“The sampling is tight, his rhymes are on point for the first time in a long time [his wordplay is frantic], and it’s an all-round rollercoaster to listen to.” ( Feed Me Good Tunes )
“Often described as “brutal” and “potent”, Ghost may very well tell the best stories in hip-hop and has the requisite grit to make them completely believable.” ( Moroccan Role )

#31 - Gnarls Barkley - St.Elsewhere ( Downtown )
“Danger Mouse e Cee-lo reinterpretano il soul offrendone una visione assolutamente originale, caratteristica principale del loro primo album. Basta infatti una genialata come “Crazy” per sopperire ad una palette di canzoni un po’ scarna.” ( The RockSuckers )
“From start to finish (and maybe a skip over “Crazy” every now-and-then) this album has a lot going for it. Cee Lo and Danger Mouse are truly on to something hear and I hope they keep collaborating. There is room to grow and the possibilities seem endless from where I’m standing.” ( Hip To Be Square ) |

|
#30 - Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped ( Geffen )
“The most accessible, song-driven Sonic Youth record in a decade or more. If you’re new to this band and can’t get into “Rather Ripped,” you’re not going to like the rest of their catalogue. “Incinerate” is one of the finest songs in their storied career” ( Pimps Of Gore )
“With Rather Ripped, the band took a drastic change in direction and released something completely unexpected: a stripped-down pop record that’s as catchy as it is addictive.” ( Goodnightcigarettes )
“Meno noise e più pop. Una canzone più bella dell’altra.” ( Indie For Bunnies )

|
#27 - The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers ( V2 )
“The songs which feature Jack White on lead vocals were great from the onset, Brendan Benson’s turned out to be growers, and the album held up well all year.” ( Moroccan Role )
“Love the Zeppelin-esque riffs that are thrown everywhere on this record, mix in Brendan’s signature harmonies and what you have is a super duper group (something like that).” ( More Cowbell )

helmut: come sei fis-h-cale!

Viola sarebbe Violante Placido?
Gennaio 16th, 2007 at 16:32
Eh si.
E’ lei.
Gennaio 16th, 2007 at 17:26
in effetti - just - anche la tua riflessione mi sembra influenzata dai media…
Gennaio 16th, 2007 at 19:28
influenzata dai dai diti media soprattutto Lucido Pm..nieh!eh!eh!
Beh diteglielo…lol…

bene, caro just andiamo d’accordo, Bugo non mi scende proprio giu’.
